CORONA VIRUS SYMPTOMS AND PREVENTIVE MEASURES


             This virus is now one of the dangerous pandemic which has already been spread all over the world, that’s why each and everyone should be aware of this. Well, no need to worry, now it’s the time to fight with brave. At first let’s gain some knowledge regarding CORONA Virus, Symptoms and Preventive Measures.












According to WHO, 200 countries are now affected and 2734102 cases identified out of which 191189 death case has confirmed and 751408 recovered. At first this virus was identified in China and thereafter it spreads in many countries.


 

Let’ Have a look –

            This is same as the family of viruses which causes severe illness similar like the common cold to many more diseases like middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome j(SARS CoV).Corona virus is an enveloped RNA virus which is distributed broadly among the humans, along with  other mammals and birds that causes respiratory, enteric, hepatic and neurological diseases. Recently, the outbreak of this virus has been seen in humans. It shows that it is mainly effecting human respiratory system and leading to weakening of immune system.




COVID -19 : DO’S AND DON’T’S


DO’S

1.         Protect yourself and others from getting sick – be informed about the illness.

2.         If you have flu like symptoms i.e. fever/ cough/ sore throat/ sneezing/ breathing difficulty then :-

(a)          Stay at home and avoid meeting with others. Maintain 2m social distance.

(b)          Contact medical authority preferably on phone and then report to nearest medical establishment.

(c)          Cover mouth and nose with mask/ handkerchief.

(d)          Report as early as possible to avoid dissemination of infection.

3.         Stay healthy while travelling.

(a)          Avoid travel as far as possible especially if you have fever and cough.

(b)          It you become sick while travelling, contact for help/ medical care at nearest Medical establishment.

(c)          Avoid close contact and travel with persons who are sick.

4.         Observe respiratory hygiene.

(a)       Cover mouth and nose with a tissue/ handkerchief when coughing or sneezing. In case tissue/ handkerchief is not available cough/ sneeze onto your upper arm or shoulder, coughing/ sneezing directly into hand should not be done.

(b)       Tum away from others when coughing or sneezing.

(c)        Do not spit/ blow nose here and there and use a water filled receptacle for collecting sputum

(d)          Throw used tissues into closed waste bins immediately after use.

5.         Maintain a social distance of 2m (6 feet) especially when someone is not well.

6.         Practice hand hygiene.

(a)       Frequently wash hands with soap and running water. One may use alcohol based hand rubs or sanitizers also :-

(i)            After coughing or sneezing.

(ii)          When caring for the sick.

(iii)         Before, during and after preparing food.

(iv)         Before eating

(v)          After using toilet.

(vi)         After coming to home from outside.



DON’T’S

1.         Do not spit in public.

2.         Do not touch your eyes, nose and mouth with unclean hands.

3.         Do not wash hands in a hurry.

4.         Do not panic or spread the panic.

5.         Do not have close contact with anyone, if you have cough and fever.

6.         Do not greet anyone by physical contact e.g. by hugging or handshakes. Safe greeting are wave bow or nod.

7.         Do not participate in lager gatherings. Avoid crowded places.

8.         Do not wear mask unless you are sick or taking care of sick.

9.         Do not touch surfaces that are commonly used

10.       Do not self- medicate for symptoms of fever, cough or cold.

11.       Do not blow your nose in open.

12.       Do not go outside or meet people if you have cough.

13.       Do not wipe your nose and mouth using your hands or clothes.
